The Teacher's Satchel — iOS and Android Application
Introduction
This privacy policy describes how the application "The Teacher's Satchel" handles its users' data. The App is published by Graya.
The Teacher's Satchel is a tool designed for teachers. It operates primarily offline and has been built to minimize data collection.
Data stored locally
The App stores certain data directly on your device in order to function properly. This includes:
- Your preferences and settings
- Files and content you create within the App (classes, students, groups)
This data remains on your device. It is neither transmitted to a remote server nor accessible by the App's publisher. You can delete it at any time by clearing the App's data or uninstalling it.
Automatically collected data (crash reports)
The App uses Firebase Crashlytics, a service provided by Google, to detect and fix technical errors on both iOS and Android. In the event of a crash, Crashlytics may automatically collect the following information:
- Device information: model, manufacturer, screen orientation
- Operating system and its version
- Available memory and disk space at the time of the crash
- Stack trace of the error
- App version
- A Firebase installation ID: a pseudo-anonymous identifier generated per device and per app installation, used solely to deduplicate crash reports. This identifier is not linked to any personally identifiable information.
This data is transmitted to Firebase (Google) and is used exclusively to improve the App's stability. It does not contain any personally identifiable information (name, email, location, etc.) and is not cross-referenced with other services.
Legal basis (GDPR): this processing is based on our legitimate interest in maintaining the technical stability and reliability of the App (Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR). Crash data is not used for any commercial, advertising, or profiling purpose.
To learn more about how Firebase processes data, please refer to the Firebase privacy policy.
Data not collected
The App does not collect or process any of the following:
- Personal identification data (name, email address, phone number)
- Location data
- Contacts, photos, or files stored on your device
- Usage or behavioural data for analytics or advertising purposes
- Payment or financial data
Data sharing with third parties
No data is sold, traded, or transmitted to third parties for commercial or advertising purposes. The only data shared with a third party (Google/Firebase) consists of the crash reports described above, solely for the purpose of improving the App.
Advertising
The App does not contain any advertising.
Your rights (GDPR)
If you are located in the European Union, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Right of access: you can request information about the data processed about you
- Right to erasure: you can request the deletion of data associated with your device (e.g. crash reports linked to your installation ID)
